Women’s Studies Librarian The Newcomb College Center for Research on Women of Tulane University invites applications for the position of Women’s Studies Librarian. The Librarian manages the daily operational activities of the Nadine Vorhoff Library, a 12,000 volume library focusing on the education of women and serving students, faculty, staff and community members. Responsibilities include cataloguing, acquisitions, circulation and reference along with supervision of student workers. We seek a dynamic and creative individual who will take a lead in shaping a shared vision of the Library, assist with the Newcomb Archives, and develop expertise in emerging technologies. Salary is competitive. Benefits include a university health care plan, TIAA/CREF retirement/annuity plan, group life insurance, and vacation and sick leave. Qualifications: Required qualifications include ALA-accredited MLS with library work experience; interest in women’s studies; experience with web design; and high proficiency with computer software. Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work cooperatively with others of all ages, educations and cultural backgrounds. About the Center : The Newcomb College Center for Research on Women was founded in 1975, and seeks to preserve, document, produce, and disseminate knowledge about women. The Nadine Vorhoff Library plays a central role in these efforts and serves as the centralized repository for women’s studies books and periodicals on the Tulane University campus. The library houses approximately 12,000 volumes with a special focus on the education of women. Particularly notable is an outstanding culinary history collection, and a collection focused on southern women’s history. The library itself is housed in the spacious Seltzer-Gerard Reading Room which is furnished with antiques from Newcomb College along with newly arrived reference desk and furnishings.
