TAKE ACTION!

Without women's research, our debates are diminished.
Without women's research, our political calculations are imprecise.
Without women's research, our policies are incomplete.

Women's research matters.

One of the things we know at the Council is that research and advocacy can reverse some of the decisions that adversely affect women's lives. In order to combat further rollbacks in women's rights - we have to join together in effective action.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

  1. Support the National Council for Research on Women

  2. Stay informed
Continue to check the Council's website and its Research*for*Action Clearinghouse for new research about women's lives. Visit the "Expert Information" section for Council member centers working directly on the issues highlighted on the site, and contact the Council directly for further information.

  3. Speak out
Speak out about women's rights and the importance of research on women's lives among friends, on listservs, in publications, on radio shows, and in letters to the editor of your local newspapers.
  4. Contact your elected representatives
Communicate to officials and elected representatives the need to take a stand on issues of importance to women. Also explain the crucial need for unbiased, objective information.
    • Ask to be connected to your member of Congress at the Capital switchboard: 1-800-839-5276 (toll-free)

  5. Encourage women and girls to take on leadership and policymaking positions
Women's voices and experiences must be part of decisions that affect our lives and those of our families and communities. Seek out local, regional, and national opportunities to make women's voices heard.
  6. Join with others who share your concerns and your values
Seek out, support, and work with like-minded organizations on local, national, and international levels that promote a fair and equitable world for all women and girls. The Council's website at www.ncrw.org is a good place to begin looking for such organizations.
  7. Make websites or other sources of accurate information more widely known
If you'd like to spread information about websites where accurate, reliable, and timely statistical data and public information about women and girls' lives resides, please fill out the form available on our Resource Exchange
  8. Forward the link to the Research*for*Action Clearinghouse widely
Post an announcement on listservs, link to the Clearinghouse from other websites, and tell others about the Council and how they can become involved. Send the link to five friends.

We appreciate your interest in our work. Together we can help ensure that women's and girls' rights are strengthened and secured!
