Diversity in Leadership Diversifying the Leadership of Women’s Research Centers is a two-year Ford Foundation-funded project aimed at promoting the leadership of women of color from historically underrepresented groups in the United States within the Council and within its women’s research, policy and advocacy member centers. The project offers four $2,000 grants for centers to conduct a self analysis of their status with respect to diversity; and four $8,000 grants for centers to conduct a one-year project to implement a leadership diversity strategy. Matching funds are expected from the center’s home institution where appropriate. The Council will convene two conferences that will provide the selected project centers an opportunity to share and evaluate their experiences. A special panel of the selected project centers is also planned at the National Women’s Studies Association annual meeting. Ultimately, it is anticipated that project strategies will become models for gaining access to leadership by women of color that can be replicated within the Council and throughout its member network. The new deadline for electronic proposal submissions is Wednesday, 30 January, 2007 at 5pm. Projects will be selected by February 29, 2008.
