Media Report to Women.com
I'd like to send a shout-out to MEDIA REPORT TO WOMEN.COM, a website/blog/newsletter that tracks how women and girls are depicted in the media and how women reporters and news analysts are faring (or not) in the media landscape. In the latest (Spring) issue, were reports of how female models are objectified and ridiculed on national television in Italy, an analysis contrasting how Michelle Obama and Cindy McCain were painted as more (McCain) or less (Obama) feminine, and snippets of interviews with Helen Thomas and Diane Sawyer. When the latter broke through the barricades while former leader Boris Yeltsin was under seige and was told to exit the premises because "No Women Allowed," she responded, "I'm not a woman, I'm a journalist."
