Women make up two thirds of the world’s illiterate population. LitWorld, an international literacy organization, works to improve this figure through its mission to cultivate literacy in the most vulnerable children through advocacy, education, and innovation.
On September 22, International Day of the Girl, LitWorld hosted “Stand Up for Girls” to promote a new era for girls’ education. The event encouraged participants to physically stand up on September 22 at 12 noon for 10 seconds to give recognition and awareness to the movement.
