With the legalization of same-sex marriage spreading like wildfire in the Northeast [2] and exciting progress on hate crime protections (legislation passed the House [3] AND Angie Zapata got justice [4]), what better time to discuss the past, present, and future of LGBT activism?
Join us in June at our conference [5] for a vibrant panel on the historical memories, current challenges, and future of the LGBT movement. The panel will feature 6 amazing movers and shakers in the queer world:
- Amy Sueyoshi, Center for Research on Gender and Sexuality [6], San Francisco State
- Carmen Vazquez, founder of Queers for Economic Justice [7]
- Cheryl Clarke, Rutgers University, Office of Social Justice Education and LGBT Communities [8]
- Jaime Grant, The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force [9]
- Narumi Tei Okamoto, Center for AIDS Prevention [10], San Francisco State University
- Sarah Chinn, Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies [11] at CUNY
This is your opportunity to weigh in: what do YOU want these activists and academics to address at the conference? Leave your questions in the comments. Let’s get this timely and vital discussion started early!
