Megan Mackenzie

Megan MacKenzie recently spent a year as a post-doctoral fellow at the Belfer Center for International Security and the Women and Public Policy Program at the Kennedy School, Harvard University. Her research areas include gender and development, international relations, security studies, and post-conflict transitions. Megan is excited to be teaching courses related to these research interests, including a new course called “Sex, Power and Post-Conflict Reconstruction.” . 

Julianne Malveaux

Dr. Julianne Malveaux is the 15th President of Bennett College for Women. Recognized for her progressive and insightful observations, she is also an economist, author, and commentator, and has been described by Dr. Cornel West as “the most iconoclastic public intellectual in the country.” Dr. Malveaux’s contributions to the public dialogue on issues such as race, culture, gender, and their economic impacts, are shaping public opinion in 21st century America. A committed activist and civic leader, Dr. Malveaux serves on the boards of the Economic Policy Institute, The Recreation Wish List Committee of Washington, DC, and the Liberian Education Trust. She is the Founder/President/CEO of Last Word Productions, Inc. a multimedia production company headquartered in Washington, DC. Dr. Malveaux received her BA and MA degrees in economics from Boston College, and earned a Ph.D in economics from MIT.

Ruth Mandel

Ruth B. Mandel is Board of Governors Professor of Politics at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Since 1995, she has been Director of the Eagleton Institute of Politics, the unit of Rutgers University that explores state and national politics and government through research and education and links the study of politics with its day-to-day practice.

From 1971 through 1994, Mandel developed and directed Eagleton's Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP), where she remains affiliated as a Senior Scholar. Mandel teaches and writes about leadership, with emphasis on U.S. women's political history, women as political candidates and officeholders, women's political networks, and the "gender gap." She is the author of numerous publications about women's changing political roles.
 

Lisa McClain

Dr. Lisa McClain is an Associate Professor of History and the Director of Gender Studies at Boise State University. She researches the issue of domestic violence and sexual assault perpetrated against women with disabilities. She serves as a board member of the Idaho Equal Access Collaborative, a partnership of the Boise State University Gender Studies Program with statewide disability and domestic violence/sexual assault organizations. Through this work, McClain examines and proposes changes to the systems responding to women with disabilities who experience sexual and domestic violence. In history, her fields of specialty include the history of Catholicism, the history of religion during the Renaissance/Reformation era and gender and popular culture in early modern Europe.

Caryn McTighe Musil

Caryn McTighe Musil is the Senior Vice President at the Association of American Colleges and Universities and oversees the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Global Initiatives. Under her leadership, the office has been working to mobilize powerful and overlapping educational reform movements involving civic, diversity, global learning, women’s issues, and personal and social responsibility.

Dr. Musil is currently directing a multi-project national initiative, “Core Commitments: Educating Students for Personal and Social Responsibility,” that focuses on engaging students with core questions about their ethical responsibilities to self and others, and about their responsibilities as citizens in a diverse democracy. It is funded by the Templeton Foundation.

Yvonne Moore

Yvonne L. Moore is Executive Director of the Daphne Foundation, a family foundation supporting grassroots organizations confronting the causes and consequences of poverty. Before joining the philanthropic sector in 1999, Yvonne spent 10 years working in child protection and advocacy and is co-author of the report Bridges to Independence: Improving Transitions to Adulthood for Youth Served by the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services. Yvonne holds a BA from Texas Tech University and an MS in Nonprofit Management from the Milano School of International Affairs, Management, and Urban Policy at the New School. She has completed post-graduate studies in democracy and civil society at the University of Cape Town, and nationalism, post-conflict violence and gender at the University of Lower Silesia in Poland. Yvonne is currently a trustee of the New York Women’s Foundation, Philanthropy New York, and Cause Effective.

Leslye E. Orloff is vice president and director of Legal Momentum's Immigrant Women Program. She joined Legal Momentum's Washington, D.C. office in September 1999 to found and direct the Immigrant Women Program (IWP) which advocates for laws, policies and practices that enhance the legal rights of immigrant women and immigrant victims of violence against women. IWP focuses on improved access to immigration benefits, the justice system, public benefits, social services and health care.

 A firm believer in the power and potential of all girls and young women, Jeannette Pai-Espinosa assumed leadership of The National Crittenton Foundation in January of 2007. Jeannette brings to the 129-year-old institution more than 30 years of experience in strategic communication, advocacy, education, intercultural communication, public policy, strategic communication, program development, public will building, community engagement and direct service delivery. Today she leads The Foundation in providing capacity building, strategic partnership development, national advocacy and communication support to the 26 members of the Crittenton family of agencies providing services in 31 states and the District of Columbia.

Linda Perkins

Linda M. Perkins is Associate Professor of the Claremont Graduate University. She holds an interdisciplinary university appointment in the departments of Applied Women's Studies, Educational Studies and History. Perkins is a historian of women's and African American higher education. Her primary areas of research are on the history of African American women's higher education, the education of African Americans in elite institutions and the history of talent identification programs for African Americans students. She has served as Vice President of Division F (History and Historiography) of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and has also served as a member of the Executive Council of AERA. She is currently on the editorial boards of the History of Education Quarterly and the Review of African American Education.

Rent was named by Working Woman magazine as One of the Nation’s Ten Most Admired Managers and in 2000 was honored as one of eleven for the International Women’s Forum award, Women Who Make a Difference. Rent is Co-founder and Principal of Rent Consulting Group, LLC in Charlotte, NC. The firm focuses on executive search, leadership, strategic planning, and executive coaching for leaders in higher education and health care sectors. Her coaching/mentoring clients include leaders and aspiring-to-next-level leaders from dean to president from major colleges and universities and health care organizations.
