Silvia Henriquez is responsible for the overall management, fundraising and administration of the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health. Silvia has positioned NLIRH as one of the leading organizations working to advance the reproductive health and rights of Latinas. Within the first two years of her tenure, she increased national visibility through the 2004 March for Women’s Lives and the National Latina Summit. Subsequently under her leadership, NLIRH has developed a successful organizing and leadership development training curriculum, a national policy agenda and built coalitions with state and national partners that advance a reproductive justice advocacy effort. Through her work at NLIRH, Silvia has published articles in “Social Policy, Organizing for Social and Economic Justice and Democratic Participation” and “Conscience, The Newsjournal of Catholic Opinion.”

Gloria Jacobs is Executive Director of the Feminist Press, a non-profit publisher affiliated with the City University of New York. The Press has been publishing books by and for women around the globe for 36 years, and also publishes WSQ, the Women’s Studies Quarterly. A journalist, author and feminist activist, Ms. Jacobs was for many years the Executive Editor of Ms. magazine. She is the co-author, with Barbara Ehrenreich and Elizabeth Hess, of Re-making Love: The Feminization of Sex, which analyzed the convergence of the women’s movement and the sexual revolution. Her articles have appeared in many publications, including The New York Times, The New York Daily News, The Guardian (UK), Mother Jones, Working Mother, and New York Woman. Working as a consultant for the United Nations, she edited and wrote several major reports on the status of women around the world.

Kate Kahan is the Legislative Director at the Center for Community Change, a national social justice organization and has been an activist for women’s rights and economic justice for more than 16 years. Ms. Kahan has both personal and professional experience with poverty and has utilized that experience in her capacity as the executive director for a local economic justice organization based in Montana (WEEL) as well as in her role as Professional Staff for the Senate Finance Committee where she provided leadership and policy expertise to Senate Democrats on welfare, childcare, child welfare, unemployment insurance, and tribal issues. Ms. Kahan also has extensive experience working on work and family issues and directed the work and family program for the National Partnership for Women & Families prior to joining CCC. Ms.

Louise Lamphere is a Distinguished Professor of Anthopology Emeritus at the University of New Mexico and Past President of the American Anthropological Association. During 2001-2002 she was a Visiting Scholar at the Russell Sage Foundation in New York City and was a Visiting Fellow in the Department of Anthropology at Princeton University in Fall 2007. Her first major publication was Woman, Culture and Society co-edited with Michelle Zimbalist Rosaldo (1974). And her book on Navajo family life, To Run After Them: The Social and Cultural Bases of Cooperation in a Navajo Community, was published in 1977. She has studied issues of women and work for 25 years, beginning with her study of women workers in Rhode Island industry, From Working Daughters to Working Mothers (1977).
