Love Your Body Day Bash

It almost seems like an oxymoron to me: love your body. Women often only see the negative physical aspects of their body. With air-brushed celebrities and models gracing the cover of every magazine and billboard, it’s hard to sometimes love the flab and imperfections that we have.

On Wednesday, NOW-NYC is hosting a Love Your Body Day Bash.  This event is a message to all women to step off the scale, put down the slim-fast, and live an active healthy lifestyle embracing ALL of our natural curves.

The Annual Love Your Body Day sets out to promote healthy body images and give women the freedom to love themselves. Many women equate being thin with intelligence, beauty, and desirability. Women can be all those things without weighing a 100 pounds. Self- Esteem doesn’t come from a number, but being comfortable with yourself. While that sounds like an easy concept, it is still an issue many women struggle with, especially when they compare themselves to unrealistic media images.

But we gotta start somewhere! Why not the Love Your Body Bash where you’ll be in the company of women who are all trying to embrace the same thing– themselves?  The event will tackle such issues as retouching (should there be a law labeling airbrushed photos?), Spanx, and sexuality.  Hope to see you there!
