The African American Women's Institute (AAWI) serves as a focal point for cross-cultural studies for women of color. The institute aims to establish collaborative links with local universities' women's programs and generates scholarly exchange programs between the university and local institutions. AAWI is dedicated to studying the interface of race, sex, and class in the region.
