Vivian Banta, Vice Chairman of Prudential Financial, is responsible for the Insurance Division of Prudential Financial. The Insurance Division consists of individual life insurance, annuities, group insurance, property and casualty insurance and retail distribution. Also included are Prudential’s real estate and relocation services and the e-business development group. Through this portfolio of businesses, the Insurance Division focuses on meeting a broad range of protection needs of retail customers.

In addition to her responsibilities for the Insurance Division, Banta is Vice Chairman of the Office of the Chairman, which is charged with the consistent, common execution of Prudential’s global strategy to “Grow and Protect” clients’ wealth. She assumed her current position in August of 2002.

Banta joined Prudential in 1998 as Chief Administrative Officer of Individual Financial Services. Her responsibilities were to build a strategy for the retail businesses. In March 2000, she was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. Consumer Group and Executive Vice President of Prudential Financial.

Before joining Prudential, Banta was an Executive Vice President in charge of Global Investor Services at The Chase Manhattan Corporation and its principal subsidiary, The Chase Manhattan Bank, N.A. In this capacity, she grew revenue five fold and assets under administration to over $3.5 trillion.

Banta was born and raised overseas. She lived in Lebanon, Iraq and Libya until she was eighteen years old. She attended Marymount International School in Rome, Italy, and upon graduating went to the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California.
