Adaora Udoji is a general news correspondent for the CNN News Group based in New York City . Udoji joined CNN in December 2003 from ABC News, where she served as an international correspondent based in London . As an international correspondent, she reported and produced international stories covering Africa , the Middle East and Europe . She primarily reported for ABC affiliates but also contributed to Good Morning America, World News Weekend and ABC Radio. She had worked at ABC News since 1995. Before moving to London , Udoji was a general assignment reporter for WTVG-ABC, an ABC-owned station in Toledo , Ohio . Udoji covered local elections, crime, and other issues affecting the northwest Ohio community from 1997-2000. Prior to her position in WTVG, Udoji was an ABC News off-air reporter in Los Angeles , then an associate producer in New York City . Udoji has covered historic events both in the United States and abroad, including the war in Iraq from Qatar and Iraq , the war in Afghanistan from Pakistan , the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from Israel and Jordan, Pope John Paul II from the Vatican City and several sporting events such as Wimbledon , the British Open Golf Championship and the Tour De France. Stateside, Udoji covered the 1996 presidential campaign, the crash of TWA flight 800 over New York and the O.J. Simpson criminal and civil trials. Udoji was part of the team that won a Cine Eagle award for an ABC primetime documentary about death row in 1997. Udoji earned her Bachelor of Arts in political science and sociology from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctor degree from UCLA School of Law.
