Plus 5 Information
During the week of June 5-9 2000, five
years after the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, the United
Nations held a Special Session on the implementation and impact of the
Beijing Platform for Action. Below is a list of links for more information
regarding the Special Session, including a series of symposia co-hosted by
NCRW.
From June 5-8 2000, women from around
the world gathered for a series of symposia to analyze the impact of
globalization on women and girls, and to review the progress of the Beijing

9, to mark the end of Beijing Plus Five deliberations on the Women's
Platform for Action at the UN and throughout New York, CUNY Center for the
Study of Women and Society hosted a "Procession and Picnic"
to connect global feminisms with issues raised in Seattle and Washington, DC.
The procession took place from the UN to Times Square and continued at 72
Street and Riverside Drive where Blanche Weisen Cook spoke in front of the
