The National Council for Research on Women will convene an expert roundtable, immediately preceding the Annual Awards Dinner on March 6th: Women 2012: Taking a Worldwide Reading. Panelists and audience members will share their vision, insight, strategies, and action steps needed for unlocking women's and girls' potential. Open and free to the public, the program will draw participants from every sector and field of expertise.
The goal of the expert roundtable is to provide a forum at which researchers and members of the corporate, policy, advocacy, philanthropic, and international donor communities as well as multilateral agencies can come together to assess recent major reports such as the U.S. Census 2010, the White House Report on Women in America, the Global Economic Forum's Gender Gap Report, and The World Bank Gender Report. Panelists will explore the main findings of these reports, what they actually measure, what is missing, what more needs to be done, and how we can translate this data into responsible public policies and action agendas, nationally and globally. The panelists will discuss strategies for building women's leadership across sectors, strengthening women's economic security, decreasing global poverty, and providing greater investments in women's education, economic development, and safety nets. Expected outcomes of the program include recommendations and action steps for moving forward.
