CENTER DESCRIPTION

The College of St. Catherine's vision statement is "to be the world's preeminent Catholic college educating women to lead and influence." In 1999-2000 the college is implementing a new strategic plan including the development of four interdisciplinary centers of excellence: women, economic justice, and public policy; women, science, and technology; women and spirituality; and women and health.

RECENT PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES

  • Funding/Grants/Scholarships
    • Research Grants. Since 1989, the Abigail Quigley McCarthy Center has offered Abigail Associates Grants, a small grants program for research on women. Areas of emphasis have included: women from the Catholic tradition and their contributions to public policy or service; and self-esteem among women and girls.

  • Family
    • Research Partners Program. The center has sponsored local research on single-parent students through a Research Partners Program.
