CENTER DESCRIPTION
The Five College Women's Studies Research Center, founded in 1991, is a site for scholarly and creative activity by and about women. The center is supported by a consortium of Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, and Smith Colleges and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and draws on one of the largest concentrations of women's studies scholars and activists in the country. Dedicated to supporting research on all aspects of women's studies, the center provides facilities and a forum for work by scholars, artists, and teachers at all levels of the educational system, as well as by community organizers and political activists, both local and international. The core of the center's programs is a works-in-progress series where Research Associates in residence each year present their work. All events are free and open to the public.
AREA(S) OF EXPERTISE
