CENTER DESCRIPTION
The Marymount Institute for the Education of Women and Girls was established in 1992 by a committee of professional educations, kindergarten through college. The Institute aims to become a national center for teacher training and education research whose mission is the improvement of education for all women and girls. The Institute studies the impact of gender, race, culture and class on three dimensions of women's educational experience: psychological development, curriculum content and classroom interaction. The institute seeks to expose patterns of discrimination, however unintended, which undermine women's potential for self-realization. The Institute intended result is a heightened self-confidence, higher aspirations and enhance achievement for America's women and girls.
