CENTER DESCRIPTION
The African American Women's Institute (AAWI) serves as a focal point for cross-cultural studies for women of color. The institute aims to establish collaborative links with local universities' women's programs and generates scholarly exchange programs between the university and local institutions. AAWI is dedicated to studying the interface of race, sex, and class in the region.

RECENT PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES
Higher EducationBlack Women in the Academy. AAWI recently held a conference to link black women scholars and address strategies for leadership and the inclusion of women across disciplines.
