CENTER DESCRIPTION  
The George Washington University's Women's Studies Program offers B.A. and M.A. degrees and is part of two Ph.D. degree programs. Undergraduates may earn a major or minor in women's studies; GW Women's Studies offers an M.A. Degree in Women's Studies and an M.A. in Public Policy with a concentration in Women's studies. A Ph.D. in Public Policy with a field in gender and social policy, a Ph.D. in Human Sciences with a field in Women's Studies, and a graduate certificate in Women's Studies are offered. With the Law School, Women’s Studies also offers a joint JD/MA. The Women's Studies Program works closely with the Institute for Women's Policy Research (IWPR).

RECENT PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES  

Feminist Thought & Scholarship

  • GW administers undergraduate, graduate, and specialty or interdisciplinary degrees in Women's Studies.

  • Innovative distance education course initiated.

  • Women In and Beyond the Global: a five-year project that documents and analyzes the conditions of women in the global household, global prison, and global city, and suggests what might positively lie beyond the current neoliberal economic, social, political and cultural global regime.

PUBLICATIONS

  • GW Feminist Review. Written by GW students and published twice yearly, the Review includes campus and community events, political articles, poetry, and movie reviews.
