RECENT ACTIVITIES

This area carries out two Regional Programs:

1) Regional Training Program on Gender and Public Policies (PRIGEPP) - www.prigepp.org

PRIGEPP was established in 2001 as an academic unit in FLACSO Argentina, with the funding of the European Union. Our aim is to provide professionals from different countries and backgrounds working in government agencies, NGOs, international organizations and academic settings with a solid, up-to-date and multidisciplinary knowledge of gender theory and its uses in policy analysis, management and assessment. The program’s goal is to promote the creation of professional communities working in collaborative projects in different countries and institutions. PRIGEPP is a distance learning postgraduate program carried out through our own virtual platform based on the most advanced technological tools. Our virtual campus offers a flexible and friendly learning environment that enriches the training process, stimulates continuous evaluation and facilitates interactive discussions that enable students, faculty, lecturers and staff to share ideas, experiences and visions on relevant topics. PRIGEPP serves as a springboard to new and enhanced careers for its participants, providing advanced graduate study through a combination of theoretical and methodological training and individualized mentoring.

The Program consists of four seminars:

·        Comparative analysis of the legislation, public policies and institutions oriented towards the achievement of gender equity.

·        Strategic programming, prospective analysis and technologies for organizational change; management and evaluation of gender equity policies.

Each seminar is coordinated by a highly qualified specialist. They have a duration of two months, and grant 75 hours credit. Admission is open to students with a graduate degree.

PRIGEPP works through a network of universities across Latin America which serve as Focal Points. PRIGEPP’s prestigious Academic Board is made up of the best international experts in the field, and gives permanent advice on the design and implementation of our activities.

Those who satisfactorily complete the program and collect the required amount of credits for each seminar are awarded the Gender and Public Policies Diploma, issued by FLACSO. The credits obtained for each seminar can be used on graduate programs, masters and doctorate degrees in a number of academic institutions around the world.

PRIGEPP also offers an Internship Program and an on-site Summer Institute that takes place each year and provides valuable experience in the field, as well as interaction with Latin American scholars and leaders at all levels.
