| The Gender Studies Program addresses current social, economic, professional, media, individual, and public policy issues revolving around discussions of gender and sexuality from an interdisciplinary perspective. The Program’s mission is to provide feminist education and research; and serve as a resource on women’s and gender issues. Students examine the experiences of women and men and concepts of gender and sexuality within different cultural, social, economic, and religious contexts. Dr. Lisa McClain is the Director of the Gender Studies Program and is Associate Professor in the Department of History. |

| RECENT PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES |
Teaching—through coursework in feminist studies, masculinities and sexualities, students examine the latest research on women and men and concepts of gender and sexuality within different cultural, social, economic, and religious contexts. Eight to ten courses are offered each semester in a various departments.
Research—Faculty who teach in the Gender Studies Program produce research on women in their respective home departments. The Gender Studies Program is currently a recipient of a three-year, $750,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice Office on Violence against Women to address issues of domestic violence and sexual assault perpetrated against women with disabilities. Scholars from Boise State will be working with the Idaho Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence and the State Independent Living Council on research and initiatives to address this issue.
Community Programs—the Gender Studies Program actively advocates for and educates on issues of women and gender. Most recently they:
• Held forum on women political, business and social leaders to determine how Boise State University can better prepare female graduates for success after graduation.
• Sponsor annually a Women’s History Month Series which celebrates and educates about the achievements of women/feminism over the last 2000 years
