An interdisciplinary curriculum that includes law, ethics, economics, history, physiology and policy is combined with three field placements to create a program in which theory and practice interact. Health advocacy graduates can be found at a patient's bedside explaining a medical procedure, in a cancer center explaining how to "navigate" the system, in a community organization building a coalition, or before a senator's desk discussing legislation. The mission of the Program includes education, service and scholarship to provide leadership in this new but critically important health profession.
